hope darby

hope darby is an illustrator and comic artist currently working out of the portland, oregon area under the alias 'bonnieventure'.

sugar, spice, and everything nice form hope’s super cute imagery with busy backgrounds and silly characters being her specialty. this personal aesthetic pulls inspiration from 1960’s soviet and japanese animation and manga, as well as modern day ‘kawaii’ culture. her comic work takes on a bolder, more graphic approach and the autobiographical anecdotes she shares are weaved together through thick lines and lush patterning.

when not doodling away in her sketchbook, she enjoys hunting down capsule machine toys and rearranging her collection of kewpies and pig memorabilia.

hope graduated from the visual arts program at the las vegas academy of arts in 2013, and graduated with a bfa in illustration from pacific northwest college of art in may 2017.
